“Our Inherited Dysfunction” a duo exhibition presented by us, Hannalie Taute and Nadine Hansen, opens the 21st of September 2021, in Heidelberg, Western Cape.

We were invited by Niel Rademan and the Hessequa Art Route to present an exhibition at the Heidelberg Hotel during the Hessequa Harmonie fees.

We hope to see you there, but if not, herewith the digital catalogue for your perusal.

EXHIBITION STATEMENT FROM THE ARTISTS

FOR

OUR INHERITED DYSFUNCTION

UPON INVITATION TO EXHIBIT, ARTISTS HANNALIE TAUTE AND NADINE HANSEN DREW INSPIRATION FROM THE HESSEQUA HARMONIE FESTIVAL. KEY WORDS SPARKED OUR INTERESTS, COMBINED WITH THE EXHIBITION BEING SET TO OPEN DURING HERITAGE MONTH.

HESSEQUA, MEANING PEOPLE OF THE TREES.

HARMONY.

THE ARTISTS POSED THE QUESTION: “ARE WE REALLY IN HARMONY WITH NATURE’?

THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT THE MIND IS A SUPERB INSTRUMENT

ESPECIALLY WHEN IT IS USED RIGHTLY

WHEN USED WRONGLY, HOWEVER, IT BECOMES VERY DESTRUCTIVE.

MORE DIRECTLY PUT IT IS NOT SO MUCH THAT WE USE THE MIND WRONGLY – RATHER THAT WE DO NOT USE IT AT ALL.

IT USES US.

THIS IS THE DYSFUNCTION.

YOU TEND TO BELIEVE THAT YOU ARE YOUR MIND.

THIS IS A DELUSION.

THE INSTRUMENT HAS TAKEN YOU OVER.

EACH WORK IN THIS EXHIBITION IS AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE NARRATIVE.

NADINE HANSEN AND HANNALIE TAUTE EACH POSESS THEIR OWN UNIQUE STYLE OF COMMUNICATING THROUGH THEIR ART, THIS EXHIBITION PLACES THEIR WORK IN CONVERSATION WITH ONE ANOTHER.

ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE LED BY THE TITLES OF THE ARTWORKS.

THE ARTISTS INVITE YOU TO TAKE PART IN THE CONVERSATION.

below is a sneak peek with some installation photographs. Don’t hesitate to contact us for more information.

Wishing you a wonderful day. xxx
