For the Transmutation group exhibition, I have decided to focus on a specific field namely:

HUMAN TRANSMUTATION

According to the Online Urban Dictionary, “Human transmutation is the ultimate taboo, playing god with someone’s soul.

“Unfortunately, these experiments have given birth to dark and sinister side of alchemy. Whether out of despair, malice or inquisitive hubris, several alchemists have been known to attempt the application of transmutation to human bodies and souls, in essence, playing god with human lives.  But, just as the Law of Equivalent Exchange applies to the transmutation of non-living matter, devastating rebounds can occur in Human Transmutation because human lives and souls are priceless according to the flow of the world.”

Grey Area Gallery presents ‘Private Logic’, an intimate exhibition of sculptural and photographic works by Hannalie Taute and Estelle van den Heever.

The works of these two artists investigate the composition of identity in a suspended state between reality and madness, establishing a relationship between the everyday and the bizarre, the public and the private.

Please join us for the opening of the exhibition on Saturday 16 April from 10:00 – 13:00.

‘Private Logic’ can be viewed by appointment in the Grey Area project space on the 1st floor of Cape Town Creative Academy until 13 May.

I have also 3 works at this exhibition…here is a sneak peek:
