2017…and ACTION

Studio news/blog

Dearest friends from the blog-o-sphere

It’s been a while ….

I do hope you had a lovely festive season and that you are as excited as I am about what 2017 may hold for all of us.

I was very fortunate to be surrounded by family and friends…old and new.

Tomorrow the school year starts again, which means my routine in the studio will be back to “normal”. I am looking forward to that.

As for new-years resolutions..mine changes constantly, but for now I’d like to quote Marie Curie:

“Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood”.

With that said….

I would like to share the following video with you. A dear friend visited me early this year and this is what we did:

“If there is any kind of magic in the world …it must be in the attempt of understanding someone, sharing something.” Julie Delpy

Besides my ‘fear’ for a camera and my broken spoken English, I appreciate that Hugo van Schalkwyk attempted to “understand” me and then to share a bit of that understanding. It was a interesting learning experience.

Best wishes

x

The Hotel I used to work at, didn’t have a room with the number 13. I also heard that some buildings don’t have a 13th floor. It goes straight from 12 to 14.

I like 13. It was my birthday on the 13th of August and so much awesomeness happened recently that I would like to share it with you.

On the 12th of August the crew from the TV show “Mooiloop” visited our beautiful town Stilbaai and my studio:

Thank you Stilbaai.me for telling them about my work!

What an interesting experience…it felt quite surreal!

Afterwards we were off to Witsand for the weekend. That was my birthday present from my dad:

The morning of the 13th I woke up with the sight of wales playing in the ocean, and our boys gave me gifts they picked up on the beach. In the afternoon we went fishing

and enjoyed a picnic.

I wish I could translate my happiness into words!

On our way back home the next day we stopped at the “Blue Crane Farmshop”ย ย . We thoroughly enjoyed their hospitality and amazing coffee…I was admiring their collection of vintage dolls….and then suddenly Philippa, who greeted us at the door when we arrived, gave me the most beautiful baby doll as a gift! (without even knowing that it was my birthday the previous day)

What an amazing, warm-hearted lovely gesture….

I am filled with so much gratitude! Thank you to dearest friends for their support and my loving family and meeting new acquaintances with warm hearts.

I salute you x

facing the cyclops

Studio news/blog

Whenever I see a camera I cannot help but think of it as a cyclops! This one big eye staring at me…perhaps that’s the reason why it made me want to reveal too much about myself?

I am not yet comfortable to disclose the reason why I came face to face with this Cyclops this weekend…but what I will reveal is the identity of the three gentleman behind this ‘thing/being/camera/Cyclops…

behind me from left to right: Stian Bam, Jaco Bouwer and Henk Serfontein

maybe the clues for the reason of their visit to my studio can be found in the links to their profiles below?..

you are welcome to click on their names to go to their websites:

I’ll admit it was an interesting, intense, entertaining and an enlightening experience…maybe one day I’ll tell you more…but for now

I just hope that the footage it chewed up and is going to spew out will make my children be proud of their mamma someday.
