Hitchhiking through the galaxy and a Familie-kielie

Studio news

Once upon a time I started hitchhiking through the galaxy and decided to stop on earth for refreshments.

So today I am celebrating: “The Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe and everything = 42 Today! (as explained by DeepThought in the book: “The Hitchhikers guide to the Universe” 😉 or here:

I hope that this year everything will start to make sense.

but what was the question again?

Spring chicken 😉

On another note I would like to invite you to a “Familie-Kielie! My upcoming solo exhibition at 99 Loop Gallery, on the 28th of August.

I do not use Facebook, but for those of you who do…the gallery created a ‘Facebook-event”, feel free to check it out:

99 Loop is delighted to showcase a solo exhibition by Hannalie Taute. Join us for the opening on Wednesday, August 28th. Refreshments will be served.

“They say that I am an invented character, then so too are my family, or are they?” With her fondness for the fabulous aspect of stories – the extension of games – of imitation of fantasy, Hannalie Taute presents to you the whole FAM-DAMNILY.

This exhibition is a continuation of Taute’s interest in and investigations of various relationships. The exhibition includes a series of portraits that Taute likes to refer to as a ‘dysfunctional family’.

This will be the first time that a selection of the artist’s sketchbook pages will be on display since she started working with rubber. These sketches feature some key ideas behind the strange business of family such as the act of copying and repeating, but also dissecting and dismantling along with reassembling. The act of repasting and putting back together again while enjoying the freedom to remake things differently – the hybridizing, upsetting the order of things. The fabricating, the aberrations, making monsters and naming them. Ultimately, this exhibition is a look into Taute’s compulsive activities. Please meet the whole fam-damnily, aimed at putting your judgmental faculties to the test.

On that note…hope you all have a great week ahead.
