Ek dink aan hierdie een as haar middagslapie – of miskien haar ontvlugting. Die ou foto het reeds so stil en rustig gevoel; maar ek wou haar nie wakker maak nie. Ek het die masker in stadige groen genaai , soos asem.

Almal se vrouens het ‘n breek nodig, maar wat hulle eintlik bedoel is:  haal asem en gaan net aan. Ek wou eintlik hê sy moes stop.  Net vir ‘n oomblik, sy hoef nie meer enige iets voor te gee nie.

I am delighted to invite you to my first exhibition with Berman Contemporary AND also my very first monographic exhibition: (An exhibition dedicated to the work of a single artist, usually exploring a coherent body of work, a period, or a conceptual thread within their practice.)

A word from the gallery: “Where does the feminine go when it stops behaving? Mother.Monster.Stitch. pulls you into Hannalie Taute’s stitched, spiked, unruly world – a place where rubber skin, thread, masks and valves come alive. Domestic myths unravel. New creatures emerge. The familiar turns strange, funny, and defiantly alive. This exhibition celebrates the handmade as rebellion – raw, imperfect, intimate and full of bite. Come meet the monster. She might look a little like you.”
